Summary[edit]

DescriptionSandy 2012-10-29 1735Z.jpg	English: The Visible Infrared Imaging Radiometer Suite (VIIRS) on the Suomi NPP satellite captured this natural-color image of Hurricane Sandy, nearing landfall on 17:35(UTC) on October 29. At that time it was roughly located about 285 kilometers south-southeast of New York City. Because it was captured in the evening, the sun was at a lower angle, which caused Sandy to appear dark pink.
