Summary[edit]

Description Stumps of trees destroyed by the EF-5 tornado that struck Joplin, Mo., May 22 await chipping at the Schifferdecker vegetative debris disposal site in Joplin July 7, 2011. Trees and shrubs are separated from other tornado debris and are being ground up for re-use as mulch and fuel. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is managing debris removal as part of the federal tornado recovery effort. (U.S. Army Photo/Chris Gray-Garcia)
