Parke Custis, born April, 1781.Elizabeth was married to Thomas l^aw who wassecretary to Warren Hastings in India and whobought a large scope of land and with others builtmany houses in Washington just after it becamethe National Capital. Martha was married toThomas Peters. Eleanor was married to MajorLawrence Lewis, son of Fielding Lewis and Betty, asisterof George Washington,and GeorgeW. ParkeCustis wasmnrried to Mary Lee Fitzhugh whom hesurvived. His only daughterMary wasmarried toCapt. Robert E. Lee of Confederate fame. During Washingtons absence from Mount Vernon whilein command of the nrmies of the revolution, Mrs. Washing-ton was often with him. During the winter at Vnlley Foryeshe shared the privations of the oflicers and ministered faith-fully to the sick nnd wounded of the troops. She survivedthe Genf-r;il two and a half years, dying at Mount Xernon,May, 1S02, and her remains lie in the vault at that place.
