English: Spoilt for choice in Padiham? Incredibly, there are three public houses in this picture taken off Burnley Road, Padiham. The 'Starkie Arms', at the left, offers Wilson's from Lancashire: the 'Black Bull' opposite has Joshua Tetley's from Leeds: while the 'Kings Arms' keeps a foot in both camps, with Taylor's from Yorkshire and Thwaite's from Lancashire. The three old women seem unable to decide... |
