Summary[edit]

Description Old photograph of St Ricarius Church, Aberford, West Yorkshire, England. Originally a medieval church, of which only the tower remains. The nave was mostly rebuilt in 1862 to a design by Anthony Salvin, but it includes an 1830 east wall. Local antiquarians wanted the old nave repaired, not replaced, partly because of the medieval herringbone brickwork, shown here. Note workers in caps; foreman in bowler. (There is another reproduction of this set of 1861-62 photos here.)
