Description
English: Brand new British steam locomotive No. 60163 Tornado at Platform 3 of Carlisle railway station preparing to depart south with the return leg of the The Cumbrian Mountain Tornado railtour. While steam engines are relatively common visitors to Carlisle, also pictured is a rare visitor, an InterCity 125 (No. 43290) of National Express East Coast, departing Platform 4 southbound for Newcastle, on diversion due to weekend engineering works to the East Coast Main Line meaning trains between Newcastle and Edinburgh travelled via Carlisle.
