| Description |
English: Stone Marker Post. Sited some way off the modern track and almost hidden by the eighteenth century coal workings indicating it must predate them. This side is inscribed "THIƧ PICKRIM ROAD STOXLY ROAD" which must refer to Pickering and Stokesley. On the other side is "THIS KERBY RAD" - Kirkbymoorside(?). Note one letter S is reversed. See 943789 and 943793. All indications that the stone is of some antiquity. |
