Description
Another Português trig pillar
English: Triangulation pillar on the Miradouro do Guindaste near Faial, Madeira, looking west. The pillar is about 1.3 metres (4.3 ft) high. A threaded rod about 50 millimetres (2.0 in) long sticks out from the top for securing the surveying instrument. (The Carta Militar 1:25000 map marks trig posts clearly but it does not mark this one. I assume that this is a trig pillar which has been retired from official use.)
