Summary[edit]

Description
English: A Tesla coil, built by the inventor Nikola Tesla as early as 1891, in operation. It is a resonant transformer circuit that produces very high voltages, which creates the brush discharge, several feet long, escaping from the top of the conical coil. The multiple spark gap which excites the primary can be seen at left. The source says Tesla invented the conical coil shown.
