Description

It shows number of known fatalities in the British Isles caused by weather-related accidents during events in question (Windstorm en:Carmen (storm) windstorm Becky and the November/December blizzards of 2010) from November 1st, 2010, to January 31st, 2011.--Wipsenade (talk) 15:12, 18 December 2010 (UTC). Elizabeth "Betty" Brown, 56, was last seen alive on Friday 28 May last year on the No 3 bus in Nicholson Street, Edinburgh and thus was not killed by the winter. November 1-21.

  • A Perthshire family were 'devastated' when a family of a father of 2 died in the poor and showy weather on Nov. 02, 2010[1].
  • A middle-aged Glaswegian tramp died of hypothermia whilst squatting a damp and derelict flat in Perth, on the 4th[2]. A woman died and her 4-year-old boy was taken to hospital after a 2 car crash in Irvine, en:Ayrshire, police said[3].
  • The en:Gardaí were a crash which had en:County Galway that had killed 2 people due to some concerns surrounding the road conditions on the 8th. An spockesman went on to also warn of the hazards caused by decreasing seasonal daylight and a greater chance of encountering wet and slippery road surfaces. A Brazilian man from the Irish Midlands region drowned in an car accident that morning on the en:Offaly/en:Westmeath border. His car skidded off the road between en:Rhode and en:Rochfortbridge, the vehicle hit a roadside bank and rolled on its roof into the flood-swollen water of the en:River Monagh on the 8th[3][4][5]. Because he died on the border and it was not define wich side he was on, I coluord in both Westmeath and Offaly.
  • A womon died when a branch fell down and crushed her car in en:Wakefield during the morning of the 12th[9].

November 22-31.

  • The earning of the 26th of November saw a woman die in a vehicle collision on the A394 road in west en:Cornwall. A 4 vehicle pile-up on the M1 near Sheffield, during horrendous weather left 2 people injured and in need of hospital treatment.[10]
  • A man died when a recovery vehicle he had called out earlier accidentally ran over him in Sheffield, during very bad weather on the 30th [22].

December 1-19.

  • 2 teenage girls died on the 2nd when their car skidded in to a en:Royal Mail van in en:Carlisle, en:Cumbria acording to the UK’s ‘Daily Express’ newspaper’s December 4th edition.
  • An old man died in en:Barnsley after teenagers taunted him and pushed his car into a snow clogged road. A motorist was run down as he helped a stranded driver in en:Bellerby, en:North Yorkshire acording to the UK’s ‘Daily Express’ newspaper’s December 4th edition.
  • 2 blokes deied after they crashed thier car on the en:M62 motorway in E. Yorkshire according acording to the UK’s ‘Daily Express’ newspaper’s December 5th edition (pages 1 and 5).
  • On Dec’ 18 a man in his early 30s, suffered life-threatening injuries when his Mini was in a crash with a highways vehicle, died after an ambulance being driven by a police officer left a country road in poor weather conditions and careered into a bush on en:Standard Hill, in en:Ninfield, police said. A man, carrying road equipment was also hurt in the incident. The accident happened on the A271 en:Boreham Street, near en:Eastbourne, en:East Sussex, at 2.30pm yesterday, according to en:Sussex Police [40].
  • On Dec’ 18, a woman in her 60s, from the Inverness area, was killed in a three-vehicle pile-up in en:Huntly, Aberdeenshire[41].

December 20-31.

  • Dec’ 20th saw a 19 year old man was fatally stabbed in the neck in en:Sheffield after asking a group of psychotic teenagers to stop throwing snowballs at him and passers-by[46].
  • A 82 year old woman was found dead in a en:Banbury canlside snowdrift on the 28th[47][48].
