| Description |
Not only the exterior of the Harbour Temple was richly decorated. The cella, too, was adorned ornamentally. The interior wall of the cult-room displayed a flat architectural division which invokes the impression of a further spacial depth. The upper partition consisted of mortar formed into profiles, pilasters and niches. The mortar was rendered with a light stucco plaster and painted. Statues may have stood in the niches. The cultroom was the place for special congregations, the every-day offerings took place at the altar in front of the temple. |
