| Description |
English: The Quays swimming and diving complex, Southampton. The large white-roofed building is, to give its full name, the Quays Eddie Read Swimming & Diving Complex. Opened in 1999, it is basically a big sports and leisure centre in the centre of Southampton, with a watery theme. Beyond it is the de Vere Grand Harbour hotel and on the right the less upmarket Holiday Inn. The concrete apron to the right of the trees and in front of the leisure centre is an "undeveloped" area used for things like the annual Boat Show and on this occasion as somewhere for the traders from the Bargate Friday market to park their white vans. Photograph taken from Arundel Tower on the old city walls. |
