Summary[edit]

Description
English: The Southern Gateway of Stupa 1 contains architraves on placed on the pillars that feature lions in the manner of the pillars of Ashoka. Front middle architrave shows when King Ashoka visits Ramagrama to take relics of the Buddha from the powerful Nagas, but he failed. Left pillar, top panel shows Ashoka with his two Queens visiting the Deer Park where Dhammachakra the emblem of the Buddha's first sermon was preached. 2nd panel shows procession of king Ashoka on his chariot.
This place is a UNESCO World Heritage Site under the reference 524.
