Summary[edit]

Description
English: This is a picture of The Statue of Liberty taken from a dinner cruise ship by William Haslet. Frenchman Edouardo de Laboulaye completed a design for a colossal statue in the shape of a goddess upholding the torch of liberty, which he entitled, “Liberty Enlightening the World.” Constructed in France between 1875 and 1884, the copper statue arrived in New York on June 17, 1885. Now, visitors can see the statue from afar or ride a boat to its island for tours and a history of the statue.
