Summary[edit]
| Description |
English: The White Tower at the Tower of London Built by William the Conqueror in 1078. The bricked-up archway in the river wall to the right of centre bears above it the legend 'entry to the traitors' gate'. It was through this entrance to the tower that traitors were taken for imprisonment pending execution. It was since built up to prevent flooding of the moat. |
