Junior Gym Team Working along with the Senior Gym Team throughout the winter termin anticipation of the annual exhibition, the Junior Team proved itselfworthy of praise for the willingness with which all its members attendedpractice, and for the diligence with which they worked. The skill in thesport which was demonstrated by the members of the team speaks well forthe excellence of senior gym teams in years to come. The team was composed of the following: R. B. Robertson, Jr. (Capt.) P. H. Stewart L. C. Ashley E. L. Valier J. C. Richardson E, J. Johnson, Jr. H. P. Ammidown S. Lanier (73)
Text Appearing After Image:
Track LAST year, the track team developed during the spring term was ac-knowledged by everyone in long connection with the school to havebeen the best team in all respects ever assembled at Asheville. Thisyear with nine members of last years team returned and with an abundanceof new material, the team undoubtedly surpassed its record of last year. With this statement as a known fact, let us do away with the usual pre-liminary review and dwell with greater length on the individuals composingthe team. Captain Anderson led the team through the season and was especiallyproficient in the broad jump as well as the shot put and the discus throw.Dunlop, while fulfilling his duties as manager of the team, could always bedepended upon to place in the distance runs. Never failing to place in thepole vault, high jump, and the high hurdles, Shumway stands out asperhaps the best track man in the school. In the Knoxville meet he brokethe school record in both the high jump and the pole vault. Coffin
