They were evidently genuinelyinteresting to the exposition crowds. At one end of the gallery, also, a dental clinicwas held on certain days. On the main floor, pictures competed with real life for popular interest. Alarge open space in the center was assigned at staled hours to exhibitions by RoyScouts, Campfire Cirls, and the citys settlements. lUit the greater i)arl of thefl(M)r was given up to the babies. Here were jianels and i)ictures illustrating theircare and a glass-enclosed room for the actual ))hysical examination; here, too, wasa demonstration kitchen in charge of a nurse where mothers might watch the prep-aration of artificial food, an enclosed porch e(;uii)ixd with small beds and baskets, *Cliief of tlie Federal Childieiis Bureau at Washiiiston; menilier nl llie Advisory Board, NationalConservation Exposition.
