Description
English: Ancient Roman limestone votive stone with inscription (c. 150 AD) found in 2016 in Aachen-Büchel, Germany. At least ten votive altars were discovered here, two of them with inscriptions of dedications to beneficiaries (members of a consul's staff in provincial towns) . The inscription on this stone reads: L(ucius) IV<CV>ND / INIVS MA / SIMVS B(ene)F(iciarius) / CO(nSularis) V(otum S(olvit) L(ibens) M(erito). Translation: "Lucius Jucundinus Maximus, beneficiary of the consul, has fulfilled his promise gladly of of his own free will". Collection of Centre Charlemagne, Aachen, Germany.
