Description
English: Toposcope, Trengwainton Garden. This toposcope is carved in slate, and is at the centre of the lawn by the Terrace. It was carved by a local artist, Joe Hemming, and the carvings represents wildlife, legends and traditional industry of this area of Cornwall. For instance, the Lamb and Flag was the tin-smelting mark of the Bolitho family of the 18th & 19th century. (Information from the National Trust guidebook to the garden, which explains all the symbols) See also 236468
