| Description |
English: Tricholoma matsutake, often identified as T. nauseosum, is a prized Japanese delicacy which sells for as much as 2000 $ per kilo of fresh mushrooms. At the moment there are no techniques to cultivate it commercially, and suitable natural areas are shrinking. It is mycorrhizal with pines and prefers nutrient-poor sandy soil. A while ago Niclas Bergius from Sweden proved that the Japanese matsutake and the Scandinavian "T. nauseosum" were genetically identical. Last year we found several fruitbodies not far from Ugut, and this year we revisited the forest and discovered several more sites where this mushroom grows. We've kept a specimen and made matsutake-gohan from the rest. |
