Prior to the invention of email and the Internet, it was necessary to correspond by hand-written or typewritten letters to obtain replacement firearms parts, as these products were not usually kept in stock in local stores.

Summary[edit]

Description
English: A typewritten letter from Savage Arms laid askew over a brown mailing envelope. The letter is dated 1961 and contains a response to a customer inquiry about a replacement butt plate. Unfortunately for the customer, the part they were seeking was no longer available from Savage Arms.
