Description
English: Persian Gulf (Dec. 6, 2004) - A Landing Craft Air Cushion (LCAC) assigned to Assault Craft Unit Five (ACU-5), leaves the well deck of the amphibious assault ship USS Essex (LHD 2) while another LCAC waits to return to the ship. ACU-5 is currently embarked aboard Essex and is assigned to patrol and protect Iraqi oil platforms. The Essex Expeditionary Strike Group (ESG) is helping to provide security and stability in the Northern Persian Gulf in support of a sovereign Iraq government.
