Enrique del Campo Yávar (25.12.1862-22.10.1905) fue un político, poeta y periodista chileno; diputado por Ovalle, fue, a diferencia de la mayoría de sus hermanos, balmacedista, como su hermano Manuel, a quien también retrató Valenzuela Puelma; "ambos libraron memorables campañas a favor de los caídos" en la guerra civil de 1891 (datos del Diccionario histórico y biográfico de Chile, t.2, p. 325-326, Establecimientos gráficos Balcells & Co, Santiago, 1928, de Virgilio Figueroa)

Notes El álbum Alfredo Valenzuela Puelma. El rigor de la Academia, colección Pintura Chilena del Siglo XIX de Origo Ediciones, 2008, pp56-58 titula el cuadro Retrato de Enrique Ovalle del Campo, lo que es un claro error como se desprende de la dedicatoria hecha por el pintor en la tela.
