Description
English: The Villa Ilissia main building in Athens, built between 1840 and 1848 and used as a private residence of Sophie de Lebrun, Duchess of Plaisance, since its completion in 1848 until her death in 1854. The building, designed by Greek architect Stamatios Kleanthis and covered by white marble, was erected in a then uninhabited area of Athens, about 600m. to the east of the Royal Palace and close to the north bank of Ilissus river. Since 1930, it houses the Byzantine and Christian Museum.
Ελληνικά: Η νότια όψη του κεντρικού κτηρίου της Βίλας «Ιλίσσια» στην Αθήνα. Κτίστηκε το διάστημα 1840-1848 ως ιδιωτική κατοικία της Σοφίας ντε Λεμπγά, Δούκισσας της Πλακεντίας, η οποία διέμεινε σε αυτό έως τον θάνατό της, το 1854. Το κτήριο σχεδιάστηκε από τον αρχιτέκτονα Σταμάτη Κλεάνθη και ανεγέρθηκε σε μία ερημική τότε περιοχή, 600 περίπου μέτρα ανατολικά των Ανακτόρων (σημερινού μεγάρου της Βουλής). Από το 1930, στεγάζει το Βυζαντινό και Χριστιανικό Μουσείο.
