Description

Visita al Buque Escuela NRP Sagres, en La Base Naval de Las Palmas de Gran Canaria. Este fin de semana de semana ( 20, 21 y 22 de junio de 2014) tenemos la oportunidad de disfrutar, en Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, de la visita del buque escuela portugués NRP Sagres, se encuentra atracado en el muelle de la base naval y podrá ser visitado hoy viernes hasta las 19h y mañana sábado de 10 a 12h y de 14 a 19h . El Buque proveniente de Lisboa partirá el domingo hasta Las Azores , para luego regresar a Lisboa, cuenta con unos 60 guardiamarines, con una decena de mujeres entre ellos, que realizan su periodo de instruccion Construido en 1937 en Hamburgo y tras varios avatares, fue adquirido en 1961 por la marina Portuguesa para sustituir al Sagres II, entrando en servicio como Sagres III en febrero de 1962. Tiene 89,5 metros de eslora, 12 de manga y 5,5 de calado, siendo su altura máxima de 45,5 metros. Cuenta además con 1.971 metros cuadrados de vela y desplaza 1.893 toneladas. La figura del mascarón de proa del Sagres III es el Infante D. Henrique nacido el 4 de marzo de 1394, siendo uno de los impulsores de la expansión y descubrimientos portugueses de la época.
