Description

I feel sorry for anyone who agreed to be interviewed by the media at this year’s Web Summit because the first question always was “what is your opinion of the fact the the Web Summit is moving to Lisbon”. It is amazing that this now is the most important question for people who never heard of the Web Summit until a few weeks ago.

When it came to Liam Cunningham’s turn to face the media he described the loss of the event as an embarrassment” and “it shouldn’t have happened” and he said much more and then the headlines screamed “LEADING actor Liam Cunningham has lambasted the Government over the loss of the Web Summit to Lisbon for the next three years”.

The second or third question was “what start up are you involved in” so Liam had to explain that he was an actor. It is easy to be amused but I must admit that I had never heard of Liam Cunningham until today.

Liam Cunningham (born 2 June 1961) is an Irish stage and screen actor. He is best known for his roles in the films A Little Princess, Jude, Dog Soldiers, The Wind That Shakes the Barley, Hunger, Centurion, Clash of the Titans, The Escapist, Black Butterflies and The Guard. Since 2012 he has portrayed Davos Seaworth in the HBO epic-fantasy series Game of Thrones. He has been nominated for the London Film Critics' Circle Award, the British Independent Film Award, has won two Irish Film & Television Awards, and shared a BAFTA with Michael Fassbender, for their crime-drama short film Pitch Black Heist.
