Summary[edit]

Description
English: WW2 roadblock at Carterslodge Lane. The High Weald Landscape Trail emerges from Warren Wood by Carterslodge Lane and follows the B2110 Horsham Road for 250m. By the signpost on the junction is a concrete block which was part of a World War Two road block. The roadblock consists of fourteen trapezoidal blocks on either side of the Horsham Road. The original number would probably have been around twenty with the missing blocks from the centre of the line being removed after the war. The two centre blocks would have had slots to hold railway rails or a steel girder as can be seen at 410016. The shape of the blocks (vertical face west, angled face east) suggest that the expected attack would be from the West. This is confirmed by the arc of fire from 420332 100m to the north.
