Summary[edit]

Description
English: Built c.1815 by William Hedley and Timothy Hackworth for use on the Wylam Waggonway between the village of Wylam and Newcastle, this is the second oldest locomotive in the world. The oldest is Puffing Billy at the Science Museum, London. Until 2008 it was believed that Wylam Dilly was the oldest but research has shown it to incorporate improvements not present in Puffing Billy.
