These memorials are to endure for a long time and shouldnot be examples of monumental frightfulness. As an aid toward education in what to do or what not to do,the Municipal Art Society of New York City has issued atwenty-eight-page bulletin for distribution throughout thecountry. Examples of good and bad memorials are figured, andthe brochure is of special service in its list of the different kindsof memorials, thirty-two of which are suggested, and can beconsidered according to the size of the town and the amount tobe expended.
