Summary[edit]

Description
English: Reactions of aluminium(III)-nitrate (a clear solution). From left to right:

2Al3+ + 3S2- + 6H2O -> 2Al(OH)3(s) + 3H2S(g) (Al(OH)3 is the white cloud swimming on top. Reagents for this were Al(NO3)3 and (NH4)2S, which causes the yellow color)

Al(NO3)3 + 3NaOH -> Al(OH)3(s) + 3NaNO3
Al(OH)3 + NaOH -> [Al(OH)4]- + Na+ (So this will dissolve in surplus. In this glass there's both reactions to see: below, there's the clear Al(NO3)3 solution, in the middle you can see a ring of white Al(OH)3 that has dissolved in OH- surplus above.)

Al(NO3)3 + NH3 +3H2O <-> Al(OH)3 + 3NH4+ + 3NO3- (Unfortunately the tiny amount of hydroxide is nearly invisible here. But obviously the yield was much smaller.)

2Al(NO3)3 + 3Na2CO3 -> Al2(CO3)3(s) + 6NaNO3 (a milky suspension of white Al2(CO3)3)
Deutsch: Reaktionen von Aluminium(III)nitrat (klare Lösung). Von links nach rechts:

2Al3+ + 3S2- + 6H2O -> 2Al(OH)3(s) + 3H2S(g) (Al(OH)3 ist die weiße Wolke an der Oberfläche. Die Edukte waren hier Al(NO3)3 und (NH4)2S, welches die gelbe Farbe verursachte)

Al(NO3)3 + 3NaOH -> Al(OH)3(s) + 3NaNO3

2Al(NO3)3 + 3Na2CO3 -> Al2(CO3)3(s) + 6NaNO3 (eine milchige Suspension von Al2(CO3)3)
