English: This stele - sculptural monument - commemorates the 22 April 1992 gas explosions in Guadalajara, Mexico that killed hundreds of people.
It is located in a courtyard adjacent to Templo de San Sebastián de Analco, a historic church. An inscription at the base reads: “ESTELA CONTRA EL OLVIDO Del Escultor Alfredo López Casanova En memoria de las miles de personas muertas, lesionadas y afectadas por la negligencia de las autoridades que generó las explosiones del 22 de abril de 1992 en el Sector Reforma de nuestra ciudad. Guadalajara, Jal. 22 de abril 2018 Promovida por: Asociación 22 de Abril en Guadalajara A.C. Cortesia de: Jorge Federico Eufracio Jaramillo” Translation: Stele Again Forgetting By Sculptor Alfredo Lopez Casanova In memory of the thousands of persons killed, injured, and affected by the negligence of the authorities that caused the explosions of 22 April 1992 in the Reforma section of our city.
