English: Philadelphia is the largest city of Pennsylvania. William Penn, an English Quaker, founded the city in 1682 to serve as capital of the Province of Pennsylvania. The Founding Fathers of the United States met in Philadelphia to sign the Declaration of Independence in 1776 and the Constitution in 1787. Philadelphia also served as the U.S. capital from 1790–1800 while Washington, D.C. was under construction.
