Shringeri

Sringeri is the site of the first matha established by the Adi Sankaracharya, the 8th century C.E Hindu theologian and exponent of the Advaita Vedanta philosophy. The important temples at Sringeri are the Vidyasankara temple and Sree Sharada temple next to it.
