Strandfaraskip Landsins

Strandfaraskip Landsins is the public transport company of the Faroe Islands. It is owned by the Faroese government and runs ferries (Oyggjaleiðir - Island links) and buses (Bygdaleiðir - Village links, blue color).

Ships

Note that the international transport by sea is run by 'Smyril Line' (not to be confused with the local ferry M/F Smyril) and 'Faroe Ship'.

  The ferry M/F Smyril links Suðuroy with Tórshavn. It is the biggest regional ferry. This photo shows the Smyril IV, which run from 1975 until October 2005 on route 7.

  M/S Sildberin runs between Sandur and Skúvoy (Route 66).
• 
  Dúgvan was the ferry between Leirvík on Eysturoy and Klaksvík on Borðoy until 2006, when the Norðoyatunnilin opened.

  Másin in Hvannasund; no longer in use.

  Teistin on the way to Skopun.

Buses

Note, that the city buses in Tórshavn (red color) are run by Tórshavn municipality.

Helicopter

Strandfaraskip Landsins started with the helicopter service in 1984. But today is it run by Atlantic Airways, the state-run airline of the Faroes.
