The purpose of this template[edit]

This template is intended for audio files containing classical music. It's purpose is, to give editors the option of providing additional information on uploaded music. It is not yet finished. Comments, suggestions, wishes are welcome on the discussion page.

What this template is not[edit]

Using this template to store all available information on a piece of music is not the intention of this template. This would lead to a unnecessary and huge amount of redundancy. Instead it shall only provide sufficient information to at a glance uniquely identify a piece of music as a certain work of a certain composer and maybe contain links to appropriate Wikipedia pages for details.

Thus it shall assist in the users' search for music and help organizing music files on Commons.
