Template:Genera2/doc

From Wikimedia Commons, the free media repository
Jump to: navigation, search

Creates a formatted list of links to genus categories.

For subgenus/nothogenus, simply add rank=subgenus or =nothogenus.

Use {{genera}} if you have less than 200 genera.

Note: if you want to edit this template, first try your modifications on {{Genera2/sandbox}}.You can then test your edits in {{Genera2/testcases}}.
When the new version is ready, you can move it to the main template.

Examples[edit]

{{Genera2|Craniolaria|Ibicella|Martynia|Proboscidea (Martyniaceae)|source=MSW|accessdate=2012-03-29}}
displays:

{{Genera2|Echinometra|†Echinostrephus|Heterocentrotus|source=ITIS}}
displays:

Note: prefixing a name with "†" will add the symbol before it to designate it as extinct.
Note: in case of disambiguated category (like Proboscidea (Martyniaceae)) provide the name with parentheses

Syntax[edit]

{{Genera2|genus1|genus2|genus3|genus4|...}}

Optional parameters[edit]

  • Use |rank=subgenus to list subgenus
  • Use |source=<WebSiteShortName> to display the source of this genus list. See Taxasource/doc for the complete list of managed WebSiteShortName
    • Use |name=<TaxonName> with |source= to specify the taxon name if the current category/gallery name is not exactly the taxon name (In article "Vanda (Orchidaceae)" use name=Vanda)
    • Use |source2=<WebSiteShortName> to provide additional sources (|source3= to |source6= are also managed)
    • Use |ref=<reference> if your source is not managed by {{Taxasource}} (|ref2= is also managed)
  • Use |accessdate=<yyyy-mm-dd> to provide the date of the retrieval of the data
  • Use |note=<note> to add the a note at the bottom of the list (such as "This list may be incomplete" or further clarification on the sources used to create the list).
  • Use |title=<title> to change the text "Included genera:" (Warning, If you set the title, the title will not change with the user language)

Optional per-genus parameters[edit]

  • for extinct genus:
    • Use |†<genusName>| to display that <genusName> is extinct (|<genusName>|<genusName>=†| is Deprecated)
  • for disambiguation (like Proboscidea which category is Category:Proboscidea (Martyniaceae)):
    • Use |<genusName> (<disamb>)|
    • If there are a lot of genera, you can put all disambiguation at the end of {{Genera}}:
      • Use |<genusName>|<genusName>=(<disamb>)|
        For example:
        {{Genera|Duvalia|...|Pectinaria|...|source=NCBI|accessdate=2015-04-24
        <!--disamb:-->|Duvalia=(Apocynaceae)|Pectinaria=(Apocynaceae)}}
  • for a note on a genus:
    • Use |<genusName> note: A small note| to display a note on a specific genus

Deprecated per-genus parameters[edit]

The following parameters should NOT be used:

  • for extinct taxon:
    • Do not use |<genusName>|<genusName>=†| to display that <genusName> is extinct
  • for disambiguation:
    • Do not use |d#=<disamb>| in case of disambiguated category (Like d4=(Martyniaceae) to transform the 4th genera into a link to 'Proboscidea (Martyniaceae)')
