• This template can be used without any parameter, but it also supports setting the description=, source=, date=, authors=, location= and the other_versions=. If source is not used the parameter name has to be used.

• If you just want a license template and not a full replacement for {{Information}}, you can use {{ODbL OpenStreetMap}} along with an appropriate license for the image (most commonly {{Cc-by-sa-2.0}}).

• The parameters top=, bottom=, left=, and right= can be used to store the border coordinates of the map. This information can be useful for various mapping templates that are used in various Wikimedia projects.

• To upload a file using this template to commons two methods are available (2017).
  • To enter an unmodified map: use the raw upload form inserting the template as the only item in the summary section
  • When you have made significant additions to the map: use the UploadWizard inserting the template in Describe the file
