Petrol is sold by the (mainly liquor) bottle in Bénin. There are thousands of these shops in the capital Cotonou, where motorbikes can refuel. It is said that the petrol is illegally imported by sea from Nigeria. Cotonou is one of the most polluted cities in West Africa because of the tens of thousands motorbikes.

Blue-hour view view of the Juma (Friday) Mosque, Shamakhi, Azerbaijan. This mosque, built in 743, is considered the first one in the Caucasus after the Friday mosque of Derbent (constructed in 734). It was built during the governance period of Caliphate's vicar in the Caucasus and Dagestan. The mosque underwent numerous damages due to plunderings, earthquakes and wars and was lately reconstructed in 2009.

78 years ago on this day, the Continuation War by co-belligerents Finland and Germany against the Soviet Union began in coordination with Operation Barbarossa. The photograph depicts a Finnish soldier enjoying the spring sun with a reindeer (Rangifer tarandus) at an armoury in Finnish Lapland during the last year of the war on 4 May 1944. Reindeer were used by the Finnish Army to, for example, pull supply sleighs in snow conditions. The photographer's original Finnish caption is translated as 'Warriors of Lapland.'
