I encourage everyone to reject this political invention. The english name for the language spoken in Valencia is Catalan. I'm sorry it upsets you, but when we speak in English, I think we should use English words and ones people know the meaning of. --Espencat (talk) 23:33, 8 July 2008 (UTC)

I agree that this template should NOT be used. Although Valencian is the politically official name given to the different variants of the Catalan language used in the Land the Valencia, the name of the language (the endemic and historical linguistic system, which has different idioms spoken in the territories of the Land of Valencia, Catalonia, Balearic Islands and the Principality of Andorra, besides the eastern Aragonese fringe, the Sardinian city of Alghero, and the French department of the Eastern Pyrenees) is Catalan. This is a general agreement not only among all universities, but even also of the Acadèmia Valenciana de la Llengua, the official valencian institution regulating the official standard of the valencian. --Albert Villanova del Moral (talk) 11:16, 12 June 2013 (UTC)
