I prefer the layout and languange selection of the Wikipedia template but obviously the title of this one. The Haz talk 18:04, 28 January 2014 (UTC)

Symbol support vote.svg Support, notably all translations (wikimedia and wikipedia) are outdated and still claim that the logos are copyrighted instead of trademarks. –Be..anyone (talk) 09:01, 20 February 2015 (UTC)
✓ Done, all missing translations moved as is adding the logo=no feature where it didn't exist. –Be..anyone (talk) 14:07, 6 April 2015 (UTC)

Merge sister screenshots[edit]

Apparently the merge from {{Wikipedia-screenshot}} to {{Wikimedia-screenshot}} caused no havoc. So far nobody missed one lost deprecated pedia lang= parameter not existing on the media version, and another 1= parameter only existing in the pedia /doc, not in the code for pedia or media.
After pedia the smaller sisters could be also redirected to media to get one pool of translations (various pedia languages were missing for media, fixed by simple moves.) In essence this means that there would be only one wikimedia screenshot category for all screenshots for the redirected sisters, and only one Wikimedia logo shown (or hidden by logo=no). –Be..anyone (talk) 14:05, 6 April 2015 (UTC)

OK, that's a good merge. I propose to create a parameter to choose the appropriate subcategory. Fore example param {{{wiki}}} = wikipedia, commons, wiktionary... --Rezonansowy (talk) 15:12, 26 March 2016 (UTC)
@Be..anyone, Varnent: There's also a second template – {{Meta-Wiki-screenshot}}. It has a better and more informative layout and is suggested to being merged into this template as well. I Symbol support vote.svg Support this. I made a sandbox of the new version of this layout – Template:Wikimedia-screenshot/layout/sandbox – what do you think? --Rezonansowy (talk) 15:52, 26 March 2016 (UTC)
@Rezonansowy: I could see the logic in merging this template in as well. --Varnent (talk)(COI) 17:06, 26 March 2016 (UTC)
Have fun, I only vaguely recall that juggling with all those translations was a PITA. –Be..anyone 💩 19:08, 14 April 2016 (UTC)

Needs Template:Self "you may choose the license of your choice" clause[edit]

This template is causing issues with ambiguity with free screenshots that portray GPL'd software. The current template makes it easy to believe both the GFDL and CC BY-SA 3.0 license conditions must be followed simultaneously, though that is not the case. 03:02, 5 September 2016 (UTC)

Interaction with Template:MediaWiki screenshot[edit]

Taking a standpoint that full page screenshots of most Wikimedia projects are derivative works of MediaWiki, the licenses seem to be incompatible with the GPL. An example: Should File:English Wikipedia screenshot.png have permission notices for both MediaWiki and Wikimedia? 12:44, 13 September 2016 (UTC)

Maybe the same discussion: Category talk:Wikimedia screenshots. --W like wiki (talk) 23:21, 25 July 2017 (UTC)
{{#ifeq:{{NAMESPACENUMBER}}|6|[[Category:Wikimedia screenshots]]}}
is stupid. It might be something like {{iffile|{{{cat|[[Category:Wikimedia screenshots]]}}}}} or so. Incnis Mrsi (talk) 10:18, 26 January 2018 (UTC)

Category:Wikimedia screenshots becomes too filled[edit]

This template here and the merged Template:Wiktionary-screenshot (source: {{merge to|Template:Wikimedia-screenshot}}) do automatic categorisation of all medias under Category:Wikimedia screenshots. Thats why moving an element to a subcategory is not possible, just coping. This allready leads to an overfilled Category:Wikimedia screenshots (>10.000 elements). --W like wiki (talk) 01:21, 26 July 2017 (UTC)

{{edit request}} This license tag categorizes images to Category:GPL, but the {{GPL}} license tag is not included here. Can an admin please add it? Thanks, Poké95 06:30, 8 April 2017 (UTC)

  • @Pokéfan95: I don't think this is supposed to categorize into Category:GPL. Wikimedia text and media shouldn't be under those, unless otherwise explicitly stated. I think the categorization should be removed. 2001:2003:54FA:2F79:0:0:0:1 13:00, 24 August 2017 (UTC)
  • I guess including the category only was a compromise to cover the cases where the MediaWiki interface is visible without adding too much noise. (By the way, there's also the unofficial print-friendly WMF logo instead of the actual Wikimedia logo.) --Nemo 14:17, 5 October 2017 (UTC)

mediawiki --> MediaWiki[edit]

{{Edit request}} "The mediawiki software itself is licensed under the GNU General Public License." Shouldn't mediawiki be capitali(z/s)ed as MediaWiki? --Luis (stranger195) ({{int:Talkpagelinktext}}) 01:47, 5 November 2017 (UTC)

✓ Done Thank you. -- User: Perhelion 15:13, 17 November 2017 (UTC)

Something about MediaWiki.org[edit]

I must point that, per mw:Project:PD_help, all the mw.org Help: namespace pages are under Public Domain, but they don't use CC-0, just saying Public Domain. --Liuxinyu970226 (talk) 14:40, 17 November 2017 (UTC)
