English: Thomas Bewick (born 12 August 1753 at Cherryburn near Newcastle-upon-Tyne, Northumberland, died 8 November 1828 in Gateshead, Co. Durham) was an English wood engraver, remembered for his vivid rendering of animals on wood and his tail-pieces (or what he called "tale-pieces").
