For the mythological being Triton, see: Category:Triton.
Triton, or Neptune I, is the planet Neptune's largest moon. Triton has a complex geological history and it is believed to have a relatively young surface. It was discovered by William Lassell on October 10, 1846, just 17 days after the planet itself was discovered. It was first mapped in 1991.
