Jay Dixit is an award-winning writer, writing professor, and photographer known for capturing authentic moments at high-profile cultural events. His work has been featured in Rolling Stone, The New York Times, The Washington Post, Wired, Harvard Business Review, and Psychology Today. Dixit is the founding photographer of the WikiPortraits project, having shot the project’s very first portraits at SXSW 2024, and he remains an active member.
Dixit's photography career spans more than a decade, with a focus on event and press photography. He has covered international cultural events including the Cannes Film Festival, SXSW, Sundance, the Toronto International Film Festival, the International Journalism Festival in Italy, Edinburgh Fringe, the Locarno Film Festival in Switzerland, the Busan International Film Festival in Korea, and the Nobel Prize ceremonies in Stockholm and Oslo.
Beyond photography, Dixit has established himself as a respected voice in science journalism specializing in psychology, neuroscience, and AI, having held senior editorial positions at Psychology Today and the NeuroLeadership Institute. He teaches storytelling through undergraduate writing seminars at Yale University and develops AI education programs and training workshops for universities and corporations. He also worked at OpenAI, where he spearheaded the company's initiatives with writers and writing professors, and is the founder of Socratic AI, an AI training and education consultancy.
As a key contributor to Wikimedia Commons, Dixit curates an extensive collection of photographs from cultural and red carpet events, enriching the platform with diverse, high-quality imagery.
