|George Washington (February 22, 1732 – December 14, 1799) was the first President of the United States (1789–97), the Commander-in-Chief of the Continental Army during the American Revolutionary War, and one of the Founding Fathers of the United States. He presided over the convention that drafted the current United States Constitution and during his lifetime was called the father of his country. Mount Vernon was his plantation house. The estate is situated on the banks of the Potomac River in Fairfax County, Virginia, near Alexandria, across from Prince George's County, Maryland.|
While Wikimedia Commons is clearly a very important project, it seems (to me) understaffed and less developed than it could be. I stop in to poke around a bit and try to help out where I can. The worst areas in terms of work to be done in many of the projects are their pictures and with the Commons' large repository the challenge becomes even more concentrated. Many upload disallowed/unfree pictures with good intent, and while the articles that use these pictures are greatly enhanced by their existance, they unfortunately need to be removed. I've come to realize that this issue needs to be treated with the most care and courteousness possible to avoid discouraging editors.
