Creating a broken link[edit]

Hello! As you know I’m renaming the road×rail icons, and some of the almost unused redirects from the old names are used in your page(s). (See example: uRP4h.)

What do you want me to do with those? Ask for deletion as it is and make the redlink in your page? Or edit your page to point to the new name?

-- Tuválkin 12:46, 10 June 2012 (UTC)

Yeah, just go ahead and let them redlink. AlgaeGraphix (talk) 00:20, 11 June 2012 (UTC)

The weird #D1E231 series[edit]

Hello again! With all that renaming and fixing, seems that you missed   (exABZlg d1e231). Not a big loss, but I know you want to be comprehensive. -- Tuválkin 15:56, 26 August 2012 (UTC)

Renaming legende[edit]

Hello! Can you come over and cast your vote at Talk:BSicon/Renaming#With a prefix and maybe your opinion at Talk:BSicon/Renaming#Renaming "legende", please? -- Tuválkin 17:04, 25 February 2013 (UTC)

{{Helpme|JavaScript}} en:User:Bility wrote this .js script for me almost two years ago (and hasn't made any contributions since), but all of a sudden it seems to have stopped working correctly. Can anyone debug it to determine the problem? (Also, while you're "poking around under the hood", would it be possible to have it default to checking the last seven days, but have an option to allow searching a specific date range?)
Thanks, AlgaeGraphix (talk) 20:30, 27 March 2013 (UTC)

Will you pay me? ;-) No, just a bad joke. It's really a lot to do here at Commons. I hope, I don't forget your request. Anyone else feeling boring is welcome to take it as long as I didn't indicate that I would start.
I accept under one Condition: You promise writing a Help-page for the tool like Help:RenameLink. Will you? -- Rillke(q?) 23:23, 28 May 2013 (UTC)
Certainly. Which tool is it? AlgaeGraphix (talk) 17:47, 29 May 2013 (UTC)
Let's shake on it. I was conferring to the script I will write for you as a tool. It will have more flexible filtering options (not yet). -- Rillke(q?) 00:15, 31 May 2013 (UTC)
Your delivery: Commons:User scripts/BSIcon (launch directly). It automatically stops after 300 queries but it would be better if you press stop before. No need to write a documentation for this stub yet :-) -- Rillke(q?) 00:15, 31 May 2013 (UTC)
A promising start! Will the output format be choosable? Also, another thought: will the "BSicon" prefix be hard-coded, or will ther be a text box so that it can be changed and make the tool usable to search for any family of files? AlgaeGraphix (talk) 00:13, 1 June 2013 (UTC)
This is indeed what I had in mind (among other filtering options for the recent changes). But this requires more coding; especially the user interface always takes a lot of time to design. If you would like to see a specific format, let me know as this requires less efforts. -- Rillke(q?) 17:50, 2 June 2013 (UTC)
My number one priority is a script that functions. Second would be the ability to select a specific date rage. Choosing output format would be nice, but not essential. Any other bells and whistle are a bonus. Does that help? AlgaeGraphix (talk) 19:15, 2 June 2013 (UTC)

Please purge your browser’s cache . (You only need to do it once.)

Internet Explorer: press Ctrl+F5, Firefox: hold down Shift while clicking Reload (or press Ctrl+ Shift+R), Opera/Konqueror: press F5, Safari: hold down Shift+alt while clicking Reload, Chrome: hold down Shift while clicking Reload -- Rillke(q?) 09:34, 10 February 2014 (UTC)

Thx & wb[edit]

Thanks for the barnstar, and welcome back. If I can help you with anything, especially about the new icon catalog, just ask. -- Tuválkin 18:19, 18 September 2013 (UTC)

Your tool lists new uploads once again, hooray! Thanks for creating those catalogues. YLSS (talk) 15:13, 17 February 2014 (UTC)

You are receiving this message because a technical change may affect a bot, gadget, or user script you have been using. The breaking change involves API calls. This change has been planned for two years. The WMF will start making this change on 30 June 2015. A partial list of affected bots can be seen here: This includes all bots that are using pywikibot compat. Some of these bots have already been fixed. However, if you write user scripts or operate a bot that uses the API, then you should check your code, to make sure that it will not break.

What, exactly, is breaking? The "default continuation mode" for action=query requests to api.php will be changing to be easier for new coders to use correctly. To find out whether your script or bot may be affected, then search the source code (including any frameworks or libraries) for the string "query-continue". If that is not present, then the script or bot is not affected. In a few cases, the code will be present but not used. In that case, the script or bot will continue working.

This change will be part of 1.26wmf12. It will be deployed to test wikis (including on 30 June, to non-Wikipedias (such as Wiktionary) on 1 July, and to all Wikipedias on 2 July 2015.

If your bot or script is receiving the warning about this upcoming change (as seen at ), it's time to fix your code!

Either of the above solutions may be tested immediately, you'll know it works because you stop seeing the warning.

Do you need help with your own bot or script? Ask questions in e-mail on the mediawiki-api or wikitech-l mailing lists. Volunteers at m:Tech or w:en:WP:Village pump (technical) or w:en:Wikipedia:Bot owners' noticeboard may also be able to help you.

Are you using someone else's gadgets or user scripts? Most scripts are not affected. To find out if a script you use needs to be updated, then post a note at the discussion page for the gadget or the talk page of the user who originally made the script. Help with BSicon[edit]

Hi Algae, how are you?

Can you help me with a BSicon that I think does not exist yet?

This template pt:Predefinição:Metrô de São Paulo/Linha 5 at Chácara Klabin station has this icon BSicon uextCPICme.svg, but both subways line is into tunnel, and the left and right sides needs the color and the style of this icon BSicon utSTRq.svg. Can you help me to find this style or create a new?

PS. Sorry with my English :) Roni Jorge Junior (MSG) 06:14, 14 January 2016 (UTC)

-- Tuválkin 19:52, 14 January 2016 (UTC) Roni1986, it is   (uextTBHFte). If you need more, ask at Talk:BSicon/New icons and icon requests. To find these "icons", beyond the categories here in the Commons, there is also the fairly complete catalog in wp:en.
Olá Tuválkin, muito obrigado não sabia desta página de requisições, o catálogo já conhecia :) Roni Jorge Junior (MSG) 18:26, 15 January 2016 (UTC) Hello Tuválkin, thank you did not know about the requests page, the catalog I was already familiar with :)

BSicon catalogue[edit]

Whichever script you're using, just letting you know it seems to have skipped a bunch of Useddenim's uploads in December (as well as some others), all of which were correctly categorized. Jc86035 (talk) Use {{re|}}

@Jc86035: I don't have the computer knowledge to maintain it; the original author disappeared three years ago, and no one seems willing to help fiox it. Can you? AlgaeGraphix (talk) 19:02, 6 January 2017 (UTC)
I have no experience writing in JavaScript, but you might find help on enwiki's village pump. Jc86035 (talk) Use {{re|Jc86035}}

Do you think it's a good idea to retire the catalogue, given that the script is getting increasingly unreliable (it's missed at least 500 uploads and page moves in the last few weeks)? I think JJMC89's changelog is working well enough to replace it, even if the pages take slightly longer to load. Jc86035 (talk) Use {{re|Jc86035}}

Fixing is good, improving past records even better, but JJMC89's changelog documents all edits, which is nice — but a catalog of changed and new images is necessary. And AlgaeGraphix’s work, even faulty as it is now, is much better than nothing. -- Tuválkin 16:15, 1 March 2017 (UTC)
@Tuvalkin: Why is it entirely necessary if all of the uploads are also in the changelog? I know it helps by filtering the information, but it just can't work if the script collects less than 5% of uploads and page moves for whatever reason. I guess we could ask JJMC89 to update AlgaeGraphix's pages as well (or make a changelog going back from January 20). Jc86035 (talk) Use {{re|Jc86035}}

@Tuvalkin: JJMC89's bot is now creating four different logs (changes, uploads, moves, deletions), which is quite nice given that the unified changelog is currently not rendering due to the large number of uses of {{BS-q}}. Jc86035 (talk) Use {{re|Jc86035}}

I noticed it yesterday, and split pages is good — it really helps monitorizing new uploads. Is it possible to have an overview area for each section, showing all its icons at a glance? -- Tuválkin 09:30, 17 March 2017 (UTC)

Update: JJMC89 bot is now going through everything from September 2006 (except the "all changes" log) and is currently at the start of 2011. Jc86035 (talk) 15:17, 11 September 2017 (UTC)
