Grazie. --User:G.dallorto (talk) 21:10, 31 January 2009 (UTC) PS: o se non hai voglia di farlo, almeno prevedi anche la categoria "-... of Rome by alphabetical order"...

Ciao Giovanni,
I do not speak Italian but as far as I have understood you are wondering about my categorization of buildings in Rome outside of the city walls by "rione". O.K. I agree we schould just use one single main category for this, without more subdivisions by rione. (talk) 21:21, 31 January 2009 (UTC)

Zypern vs. Griechenland[edit]

(talk) 17:53, 27 April 2009 (UTC)

ich habe jetzt die kategorie Cypriotic askoi selber erstellt. dein Bild File:NAMA - Askos in the shape of a beast.JPG stellt aber doch eine attische, also griechische und nicht Zypriotische Keramik dar? (talk) 18:05, 27 April 2009 (UTC)

Marcus Cyron (talk) 21:42, 30 April 2009 (UTC)

Category:Ancient Near East bronze statuettes[edit]

Hi! Do you mind if I rename this category into Category:Ancient Near Eastern bronze statuettes? I feel the adjectival form would be more appropriate. Kudos for the category work, btw. Jastrow (Λέγετε) 18:04, 28 April 2009 (UTC)

Hi, no problem, feel free to rename it (talk) 18:05, 28 April 2009 (UTC)

Requesting undeletion[edit]

Hi AnRo0002! If you delete or wants to delete images please warn/inform the uploader. For your information I requested 3 images undeleted Commons:Undeletion_requests/Current_requests#File:Alter_ego_she_dreams_1987b.jpg.2C_File:Alter_ego_summertime_1986b.jpg_and_File:Alter_ego_time_1988b.jpg. --MGA73 (talk) 21:02, 30 April 2009 (UTC)

Hi i'll try to do it in future but these files I've deleted where obvious copyright violations. There are tons of deletion requests and I wonder if it's necessary to address the uploaders vor each copyvio image --anro (talk) 22:27, 30 April 2009 (UTC)
I belive you should always tell the uploader. That way he/she will be told what not to do and hopefully not do it again and others can se that the user has been warned and we can block if the uploads continue. Or in the few cases where he/she really have made the work or has a permission he/she could tell.
The original uploader on dawiki has added info about the former band members and what happend to them after. Info not easy for the public to find. So thats why I found the uploader trustworthy and transfered the images to Commons. --MGA73 (talk) 07:33, 1 May 2009 (UTC)

File:Me and my Chucks.jpg[edit]

Hi, could you please explain how this was a copyright violation? It was a photo from Klashorst's flickr stream, and was flickrreviewed. -mattbuck (Talk) 11:11, 1 May 2009 (UTC)

Hi I have restored the image thought I am still not shure about copyvio, because its an image by a living artist and the license cant be realized because the image does not exist anymore on flickr. --anro (talk) 17:41, 1 May 2009 (UTC)
For this we have Flickr reviews by trusted users. Once they have confirmed that, we trust them even if the associated images are deleted on Flickr or their license changes at Flickr. Regards, AFBorchert (talk) 18:05, 1 May 2009 (UTC)
That is why we have flickrreview and PDreview. It's a proof that a trustet user have checked license and source etc. You should be careful to delete images without debate just because they look like a copyvio. And if you are sure they are copyvios you should not restore images just because someone asks. Then wait for a undeletion request and argue why the images should not be restored. --MGA73 (talk) 18:08, 1 May 2009 (UTC)

Settlements established in...[edit]

Hi! I noticed that you have categorized places by their date of establishment. I would like to ask you, how you define the date of establishment. Looking at some of the categories you have added to Finnish municipalities, I find the historicall quite... odd. But if you have a definite criteria for establishment, then it might be easier to understa. Best, Samulili (talk) 07:36, 14 May 2009 (UTC)

Hi, my criteria for the categorization is the English wikipedia categorization scheme. I do not follow, when I see that the date of establishment is definitively wrong (e,g Sélestat, which is told 13th century establishment but in fact its Carolingian, or older). Sometimes the date of establishment is chosen from the date of first mentioning while its obvious that the settlement is much older (most of the villages in Germany for example are first mentioned in the Carolingian era, when the king tried to record his properties). So it is just an approximation. But when you see definitive wrong dates, let me know, please --anro (talk) 09:54, 14 May 2009 (UTC)

Railway stations by date of establishment[edit]

Hello. I am contacting you because you seem to be the one who created the great templates organizing railway stations by date of completion. However, I am not sure the categorization works. As buildings, railway stations belong in the Category:Buildings by year of completion category tree, rather than the Category:Establishments by year tree. I would have thought that the establishment categories are for entities such as municipalities, organizations, etc., but buildings and structures belong in their own category tree. One doesn't really think of railway stations as being "established", but rather built, constructed, completed, etc.--skeezix1000 (talk) 15:57, 4 June 2009 (UTC)

Hi, i have created the templates but not the categorization itself. But I prefer railway stations in the establishment category because many where partially or totally rebuilt much later, for example Euston station in london... --anro (talk) 16:05, 4 June 2009 (UTC)
But that's true of all buildings. - I'm not sure why railway stations would be a special exception.--skeezix1000 (talk) 17:15, 4 June 2009 (UTC)
Given the point you have brought up, I have raised the issue over at the Village Pump. --skeezix1000 (talk) 19:08, 4 June 2009 (UTC)

o.k. i will change the category names very soon --anro (talk) 20:09, 16 June 2009 (UTC)
Sorry, apparently on commons it's not. See for example Category:Netherlands. So you were right in the first place. Good luck with your project! Regards, Vincent Steenberg (talk) 20:13, 16 June 2009 (UTC)

Kategorisierung Buildings Berlin-Mitte[edit]

But what is the lincensing you put on a pic that says it was on google for example? Abce2 (talk) 20:09, 18 July 2009 (UTC)

Google graps images from everywhere - as well as from commons this does not touch the license given at commons --anro (talk) 20:13, 18 July 2009 (UTC)
I'm sorry, I don't know much about this stuff. Can you explain?Abce2 (talk) 20:15, 18 July 2009 (UTC)
But images yo have found at google are not allowed to be uploaded to Commons with some few exceptions. You may only upload your own pictures in general, or images which are very old (author died bevore 70 years). --anro (talk) 20:19, 18 July 2009 (UTC)

--Paddy (talk) 22:40, 4 August 2009 (UTC)

What are you doing? Please stop removing valid information from templates like you did here. Multichill (talk) 19:21, 27 August 2009 (UTC)

Your contributions make me very very sad. You removed information on hundreds of images. You got to have a damn good explanation for this behavior. Multichill (talk) 19:26, 27 August 2009 (UTC)
Hi Multichill, I try to empty the tons of "temporary categories" of Deutsche Fotothek in the following way: I delete "| 5202 =xxx" after the image is in the category "Building xxx", then "| 5230 =" after the Building is in the category "typ of building" and then "| 5108_1" after the location is fixed. No image will be "lost" by removing this templates, the contrary is the case: somewtimes the templates have wrong location or building or type of building what I correct by creating the correct categories. I think all the temporary categories schould be emptied once by this way. dor example this Category:Images from the Deutsche Fotothek, building 1. Meißner Mühle categorie will be emptied in favour of Category:1. Meißner Mühle. I talked with another commons admin (Mbdortmund) about and he thought it is godd work what I do there. My big mistake was just not to inform you about this. greets --anro. (talk) 20:04, 27 August 2009 (UTC)
Multichill greetings from Germany. I would be delighted if you would not fall into any panic. The process of anything that would disturb you has been stopped (even though unnecessarily). anro is a sysop here on WM commons and I have been one too. I think it is time to talk and talk reasonable. Until then there will be no further actions of this kind. Since you come to the IRC I would suggest tomorrow at 10pm #wikimedia-commons with anro. I am not sure if I can be there but I think you two can handle the discussion. --Paddy (talk) 23:20, 27 August 2009 (UTC)
Oh dear. I called them temporary categories for a reason. At the point that these categories are no longer useful on edit at {{Fotothek-Description}} will remove these temporary categories from all images. When you're done with a temp category you can just deleted it, it will become empty after a while. Could you please stop removing this information and restore all the information you removed? Multichill (talk) 11:31, 29 August 2009 (UTC)
It's end of upload for me. I removed the temp categories. Almost all of the categories here will become empty and can be deleted.
It's a shame this misunderstanding happened. I understand you spend a lot of time on getting these images categorized. I already knew adding categories using a template trick is bad. Over the last couple of months I learned that we shouldn't even use it for temporary categories. This only confirms this. For future uploads temporary categories are a good system, but these categories should be added to the images directly, not using a template.
But shit happens and let's see if we can get this fixed again. I would really appreciate it if you help could restore the descriptions you removed. I think I can have a bot do this. If I would take the current categories, revert to the last version by my bot and restore the categories, would I loose some information? Multichill (talk) 13:31, 30 August 2009 (UTC)
Hi, I will restore the deleted templates step by step but i will not delete the temporary cats befor I'm shure that all images have their correct categories. --anro (talk) 13:35, 30 August 2009 (UTC)
If you come to irc we can discus it so you don't have to do too much manual work. I'll promise I'll be nice ;-) (sorry, had to run last friday, I was really late for a meeting). Multichill (talk) 13:44, 30 August 2009 (UTC)

Template:States of Germany (fixed)[edit]

Hallo AnRo0002.

Question about recreating Category:Castles in Trentino-South Tyrol[edit]

Hi, I have been on Commons for a few months, and I'm trying to sorting out categories for Category:Buildings in Italy. Specifically, I saw that someone (perhaps you?) requested a speedy deletion of Category:Castles in Trentino-South Tyrol on Sept. 8 2008, because it was empty, and to see Category:Castles in Trentino and Category:Castles in South Tyrol instead.

I recognize that categories "xxx in Trentino-South Tyrol" would ideally be always empty, but "Trentino-South Tyrol" is the name of the italian region (being Trentino and South Tyrol two autonomous provinces, an "anomaly" in Italy), and serves the purpose of being listed in the "xxx in Italy by region" categories. Since I created quite a number of "xxx in province of YYY" and "xxx in YYY" categories for towers and other type of buildings in Italy, most of which do not contain files but only more specific categories, I was wondering if there was a policy on Commons about geographical categories ideally containing just other categories.

Please note that Category:Castles in Trentino-South Tyrol currently exists as Category:Castles in Trentino-Alto Adige (the italian name of the region), and I was about to migrate everything in it to the former and put a redirect in the latter (or just request a speedy delete for bad category name), but I saw it has been deleted in the past for reasons that are not completely clear to me, and I'd like your opinion on that before proceeding.

Thanks in advance for you time. --Ianezz (talk) 19:31, 30 August 2009 (UTC)

Hi Ianezz. I have started the category and requested the deletion at the same day following a discussion I cannot find again. For me it makes as well more sense to use the english spelling as it is used for all Italian provinces (e.g. Tuscany, Sicily and not Toscana or Sicilia) and I can not tell you any reason why the castles in Trentino-South Tyrol schould be handeled differet. --anro (talk) 20:54, 30 August 2009 (UTC)
Ok, thank you very much. --Ianezz (talk) 07:18, 31 August 2009 (UTC)

Hallo AnRo0002!

MfG Stefan Knauf (talk) 21:20, 12 September 2009 (UTC)

Hello! I am MacedonianBoy and I want to upload a new version of the File:Coat of arms of the Republic of Macedonia.svg, but there is a problem. Why are you creating "1740s in the United States". The USA didn't exist before 1776. It's like talking about East Germany today, in 2009. Do like, talk about the Thirteen Colonies, French Louisiana and what they all were called. J 1982 (talk) 15:43, 13 September 2009 (UTC)

hi, ok I will revert this conforming to the categories at en.wikipedia --anro (talk) 15:45, 13 September 2009 (UTC)

for the moment I have emptied and deleted the cats and the referring template. A discussion about the cats "United States in the (before 1770s)" should be done by US people --anro (talk) 16:29, 13 September 2009 (UTC)
OK. I'm Swedish. J 1982 (talk) 16:34, 13 September 2009 (UTC)
And the same with Germany before 1871 and Italy before 1861. J 1982 (talk) 17:48, 16 September 2009 (UTC)
But this is impossible to handle: dozens of little states changing each decade... The states didnt exist yet but the terms Germany and Italy since the early middle ages. And when you go in prehistory what's then? --anro (talk) 17:53, 16 September 2009 (UTC)
States didn't exist when man was just a hunter, but when he became a farmer. J 1982 (talk) 17:58, 16 September 2009 (UTC)
In my mind, it makes sense to classify by the current location: "1740s in the United States" could reasonably mean "topics related to the 1740s in what is now the United States". It's much simpler than trying to go by political divisions at past times. Nyttend (talk) 15:50, 17 September 2009 (UTC)

I'd like to question the creation of Category:Houses on the National Register of Historic Places in Henry County, Ohio — do we really need a category with only one possible member? Thanks. You're the uploader of my photos -romanian churches- from roWiki to Commons? Cezarika1 (talk) 15:21, 12 November 2009 (UTC)
Yes I have copied many images of Romanian churches to commons --anro (talk) 15:23, 12 November 2009 (UTC)
Then thank you again. You helped me much. Cezarika1 (talk) 15:26, 12 November 2009 (UTC)

Template:Us states[edit]

I've created Category:Wooden buildings in Indiana and Category:Wooden houses in Indiana and applied the proper {{Us states}} template, but Indiana doesn't display in the template. What do I have to do to get it to appear? Thanks! Nyttend (talk) 14:24, 14 November 2009 (UTC)

ni Nytted, it is just a question of time, at me it does appear. --anro (talk) 14:57, 14 November 2009 (UTC)

Are you an admin here?[edit]

Could you delete a picture that I uploaded? I need to reload it. Cheers and thanks, Abce2 (talk) 22:28, 28 November 2009 (UTC)

Yes I may, give me the url of the image, please --anro (talk) 22:30, 28 November 2009 (UTC)

Thanks. And thankfully, it finally worked. So again, thanks.Abce2 (talk) 22:37, 28 November 2009 (UTC)

Category:Tunisia in the 1990s[edit]

Hallo, es will mir nicht gelingen, Tunisia in Template:Facts/Countries bzw. in Category:Tunisia in the 1990s einzubauen. Für die Category:Turkey in the 2000s gilt dasselbe. Kannst Du mir helfen? --R. Engelhardt (talk) 15:07, 3 December 2009 (UTC)

Engelhardt (talk) 16:40, 3 December 2009 (UTC)
Engelhardt (talk) 17:02, 3 December 2009 (UTC)

Category:Collegium Liborianum[edit]

Engelhardt (talk) 18:26, 19 December 2009 (UTC)

Category:Built in North Rhine-Westphalia in 1906[edit]

Engelhardt (talk) 16:55, 22 December 2009 (UTC)

Category:By decade[edit]

Ebenso wohl bei Category:Cities in the 2000s. Oder habe ich da etwas "hineingemogelt"? Kannst Du Dir das bitte mal ansehen? Gruß, --R. Engelhardt (talk) 15:05, 23 December 2009 (UTC)

Gruss --anro (talk) 15:40, 23 December 2009 (UTC)
So weit so gut!
--R. Engelhardt (talk) 19:23, 23 December 2009 (UTC)

Category:Altenbeken in the 2000s und andere[edit]

Mal sehen, --R. Engelhardt (talk) 21:19, 26 December 2009 (UTC)
Ähm, was soll denn dieser Kategorienmüll?
