CFI Moldovița[edit]

Salut,

A question[edit]

Hi. I have a question about this map: http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Map_Byzantine_Empire_1045.svg You wrote there that your source for that map is Stelian Brezeanu> O istorie a Imperiului Bizantin, Bucharest 1981. Is it possible that you show me original map from that book somehow? Perhaps you can send me that map on email or you can upload it in some web site for images? I want to draw a map of the Theme Sirmium and I would appreciate if I can see map from your source. So far, sources about borders of the Theme Sirmium that I found already are not quite good. Therefore, I assume that your source is better. PANONIAN (talk) 23:24, 14 June 2013 (UTC)

WW2 Map of Greater Germany[edit]

Hi Andrei, I've uploaded a file showing the first preliminary results from my work on Greater Germany administrative map here --> KDR44 Extract. The map is created from the GIS data I have digitised from the Karte des Deutschen Reiches 1:100k maps and shows the level of accuracy that you get from that. Given the complexity and huge geographical extent of the full map and the limitations on image size on wikicommons, I've decided I will publish it as a mosaic of perhaps eight parts. Initially it will show the de-jure administrative divisions, then I will create one showing the NS Gaue. Let me know what you think! :) XrysD (talk) 09:40, 13 October 2013 (UTC)

Yes, by the end I will have geo-referenced all the KDR 100k source maps! I can't publish these myself though due to the usual copyright issues. Georeferencing is not what takes the time though. Most of the maps are BW scans of colour source maps. The resolution is good, but because they are black and white (not even grayscale) it is very hard to distinguish the admin boundaries as the colour information is lost. This is especially true for the kreise where the line symbol is all but indistinguishable from the symbol for a path and becomes completely impossible to follow in urban areas where only the line colour on the source map shows where they are! I will look into producing SVG versions but I am slightly reluctant due to how easy these are to abuse by other sites for commercial gain or unscrupulous wikipedians! XrysD (talk) 12:42, 21 October 2013 (UTC)
There are colour KDR 100k maps on Mapywig, but the ones for non Polish territories are all pre-1900. Is your map website online yet? :) XrysD (talk) 16:37, 27 October 2013 (UTC)

Harta Moldova[edit]

Buna Andrei,

http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Moldova_administrative_map.png

Multumesc frumos, Sorina

Hello[edit]

I would like to use the base of one of your maps as a template for constructing a new map which might be published in Journals. How would you like to be attribute in the acknowledgements section ? What is your 'real name' ? 124.188.115.30 08:32, 17 March 2014 (UTC)

Demografia Romaniei in format Google Earth[edit]

Buna,

The map of Roman Dacia in the recent studies. --Codrin.B (talk) 10:31, 29 April 2014 (UTC)

Actualizare harta[edit]

Salut Andrei! Te rog vezi discutia de la pagina File:Romanian_Greek-Catholic_(Uniate)_Church_map.svg. Multumesc, --Mihai Andrei (talk) 12:59, 25 August 2014 (UTC)

Bucovina[edit]

Salut. --Vladimir Lasky (talk) 06:34, 25 October 2014 (UTC)

Via Agrippa Lugdunum > Mediolanum Santonum[edit]

Salut,

Cordialement,--Hibolites (talk) 10:50, 21 December 2014 (UTC)

Salut,

Your Roman roads maps are extensively used in Wikipedia. Thank you for that. I would suggest two modifications:

  • The city of Augustoritum (Limoges) is misplaced. It is actually the location of Lemonum (Poitiers).
  • One of the main cities of the region was Santonum Mediolanum (Saintes) which was located at the end of the Via Agrippa coming from Lugdunum (Lyon) through Augustonemetum (Clermont-Ferrand) and Augustoritum (Limoges). This city could be mentioned on the maps.

Best Regards,--Hibolites (talk) 10:50, 21 December 2014 (UTC)

Hello Andrein. Thanks for your modification. Could you please link Augustoritum to Medliolanum Santonum ? This is the fr:Via Agrippa (Saintes-Lyon) in fact.
To your question about the southern bank of the Loire river and the limit between Aquitaine and Lyonnaise, since August, Loire is the limit from spring to mouth, except "some irregularities with celtic tribes". I couldn't find any detail about that, but I still look forward. Regards, Jack ma (talk) 06:00, 21 February 2015 (UTC)
Hello Andrein. All the maps you mention (3) shows the Lyon-Saintes not passing by Poitiers (Lemonum). Except the very western end you mention : some maps, based on the Peutinger map, make it pass by Aulnay (Avedonacum), between Poitiers and Saintes (graphic error on Peutinger map ?). But the via Agrippa, on the field, is direct to Saintes (from Limoges - Augustoritum). See the route on Google Maps, clicking on top right of fr:Via Agrippa (Saintes-Lyon). Regards, Jack ma (talk) 13:07, 25 February 2015 (UTC)
Between Limoges, Clermont-Ferrand and Lyon, the "via Aquitania" is known. But personnally I don't know exactly the map of it. I think yours is correct. Jack ma (talk) 18:54, 1 March 2015 (UTC)
Hello Andrein. Thanks for your new map. I still have the same objection: east of Saintes should be a direct line (no intermediate junction to Poitiers-Saintes). Regards, Jack ma (talk) 08:22, 8 March 2015 (UTC)

Mistake in 125CE Roman maps[edit]

Found a mistake in your (for the rest stunningly beautiful) 125CE Roman maps. They depict the Netherlands in the post-1950 form, which is vastly different to the historically accurate form you use correctly in the Rhine frontier map. Just thought you might want to know!

France 1812 map[edit]

Hello Andrei, Thanks for the updated map. Yes, the Val d'Aran as included in Haute-Garonne corresponds to the current Val d'Aran special area - technically, it's not a comarca ;)

An interesting update would be to include overseas departements (Saint Domingue...) but the data are very difficult to find and validate. Best regards,

--Jfblanc (talk) 13:12, 10 February 2015 (UTC)

Some errors in Département Names to correct:
  • Ariége -> Ariège
  • Haute Rhin -> Haut Rhin
  • (Charente, Loire, Seine) Inférieur -> Inférieure
  • Trasiméne -> Trasimène
  • Leman -> Léman
  • Sesia -> Sésia
  • Illyrian Province -> Provinces (divisions were intendances)
  • (City of) Liége -> Liège
  • Eure et Loire -> Eure et Loir (Loir is another river)
  • (City of) Bouges -> Bourges
  • (City of) Strassbourg -> Strasbourg (one s in French, two in German but no "o")
  • (City of) Saragosa -> Saragossa (or Spanish Zaragoza)
  • Mediteranean -> Mediterranean (Sea)
Cu stima,
--Jfblanc (talk) 13:23, 10 February 2015 (UTC)
Thanks for being so fast... my fault, I forgot "Loire et Cher" -> "Loir et Cher" (the same "Loir" than in "Eure et Loir")... and not sure if Orléans may bear an accent on an English-language map.

WWII Maps[edit]

Hi Andrei,

Nice to hear from you again! I am currently working on a map of Bulgaria 1941-44 which I am close to finishing. Apart from that I have one of Serbia 1941-44 and of course my magnum opus the full map of NS Germany. I've not looked at Denmark or Norway so you are safe there. I'd be very interested to see your Finland map. Is your KCL e-mail still valid? If so I will send you an quick e-mail to give you my address. XrysD (talk) 18:25, 21 February 2015 (UTC)
