Quality Image Promotion bu user Sharvarism[edit]

HI. Some (twenty so far) images from user Sharvarism have been/are on the verge of being deleted for copyvio. A lot more are listed at Commons:Deletion requests/Files uploaded by Sharvarism though I've not found evidence of copyvio for these ones yet. May you take a look at the batch since two of them (File:Open Carved Arch.jpg and File:Attractive Red wall of the Junagarh Fort.jpg) have won prizes for Wiki Loves Monuments in India? Kind regards, --Patrick Rogel (talk) 11:09, 4 March 2020 (UTC)

@Sumitsurai:, as the lead organizer of both Wiki Loves Monuments in India, please check. -- Bodhisattwa (talk) 11:22, 4 March 2020 (UTC)

Odisha[edit]

This is with reference to the wikimedia commons license in respect of the file whose link is given below.

I have created the file of my own which appears to be somewhat similar to a file released by govt. of odisha. However this is not an exact copy. I have used the information for educative purpose only.Furthermore the Govt of odisha has released its media files under free license. Please see the link below. [1] However, please guide me if at all I need any further declaration/licensing tag. Hpsatapathy (talk) 02:48, 6 May 2020 (UTC)

@Hpsatapathy:, your image contain official logos of NHRM, Odisha Govt. etc. which are not released under CC license. Either you have to explicitly get permission to re-use the logos under such license from respective authorities or need to remove them from the image. The rest of the image, i.e. the data table, has no issue till now. -- Bodhisattwa (talk) 02:56, 6 May 2020 (UTC)
Thanks for letting me know the exact issue. -- Hpsatapathy (talk) 03:18, 6 May 2020 (UTC)

Please take a look at the meeting page and add your name to the list of participants if you’re planning to attend.

Commons Photographers User Group: Meeting on September 26 and other stuff[edit]

Dear member of the Commons Photographers User Group,

I've got a quick update for you, containing three items:

  • I’d like to invite you to our group’s second Virtual Meeting on Saturday, September 26, 2020. As last time, this meeting will serve as an opportunity to get to know each other better, share learnings, and connect in times of the global COVID-19 pandemic. If you'd like to present, please add your name and the proposed topic to the list on the talk page.
  • Also, I'd like to start a conversation about how we should be sharing responsibility for the user group going forward. I'd love to get some help when it comes to organizing things and I'm convinced that we can achieve more if a couple of people helped with coordinating stuff.
  • Finally, the Wikimedia Foundation has asked me to spread the word about their latest survey: Universal Code of Conduct Survey. The goal is to create a safer environment on Wikimedia projects and the Foundation gathers feedback prior to coming up with a first draft.

Hope to see you at the Zoom meeting in September!

All the best, --Frank Schulenburg (talk) 18:51, 15 August 2020 (UTC)

Wiki Loves Monuments 2020[edit]

WLM-Banner-Bg.jpg

Hallo Bodhisattwa,

Adding Gandhi Heritage sites in Kerala[edit]

Commons:Wiki Loves Monuments in India/Monuments In this template the only red link is the Gandhi Heritage sites in Kerala. So I am trying to fill it up. I ended up in big confusion. In the official website from govt. of India it only says about. This is creating complex confusion. Because Vaikom is a place in Central Kerala spans 5Square KM. Further digging into this I found en:Vaikom Satyagraha and Mahatma Gandhi directly came here are addressed the people. But there is no monument, museum, heritage site in the name of Mahatma Gandhi. Only we can find a building where Mahatma Gandhi conducted a discussion File:Indanthuruthil Mana.jpg, A school called File:Vaikom Sathyagraha Memorial School.JPG. Also in UNESCO WHC They listed Vaikom Mahadeva Temple as a Heritage site. So How to solve this problem. The whole vaikom town is not a Gandhi Heritage site. So what to do --Ranjithsiji (talk) 16:30, 21 August 2020 (UTC)

Hi @Ranjithsiji:, I am confused too and don't have any clear answer. So, I deliberately left it blank. May be we need to dig it deeper. -- Bodhisattwa (talk) 05:11, 22 August 2020 (UTC)

Code issues in User:Bodhisattwa/common.js[edit]

Hi Bodhisattwa, I am a bored bot (this is kind of a computer program) that is watching the recent changes and tapping buttons like I did now.

Curious about the reason? Possibly not but I will tell you anyway:

  1. You edited User:Bodhisattwa/common.js. Glad to see you coding in javascript! Have you ever considered becoming a MediaWiki hacker?
  2. Though, that change appears to introduce 1 new jshint issue — the page's status is now having warnings. Note that invalid or ambiguous code often has unwanted side effects like breaking other tools for you. If you cannot find out how to fix it, I suggest blanking the page for now.
  3. To help you understanding where the issues are, I have aggregated a report here and now. If you have questions, don't hesitate to ask users experienced in javascript writing for help. But do not ask the bot's operators (chronically overwrought) unless you suspect an error of mine. If you prefer not getting spammed by me, you can opt-out reports by adding {{ValidationOptOut|type=all}} to your user page or cmb-opt-out anywhere on your your global user page on Meta. Good luck at Wikimedia Commons and happy hacking!

Warning[edit]

Hi Bodhisattwa. I noticed that you've made a malformed deletion request. When you want to delete a file with the {{Delete}} template, you must follow the instructions in the template, including the "Click here to show further instructions" portion. Alternatively, you can click the "Nominate for deletion" link in the left sidebar, under the "tools" section, which does all of the work for you. Please do one of these, otherwise you create a lot of work for other people. If you don't see the "Nominate for deletion" link in the left sidebar, you can use the JavaScript method of enabling AjaxQuickDelete on Special:Preferences#mw-prefsection-gadgets once and then refresh once.   — Jeff G. please ping or talk to me 13:36, 23 January 2021 (UTC)
