Talk page archiving set up[edit]

Hi,

I apologise if this is a bit presumptious, but I've archived most of the comments from your talk page. These can be easily accessed via the box at the top right of your main talk page.

The reason is that lots of more recent template-based notices on your talk page weren't displaying correctly. This happens when the number of such templates on a page exceeds a certain amount.

Since we need to be able to communicate with you via your talk page, it's important that such notices show up correctly; the solution is to keep the number of comments on the page below a certain limit by archiving the older ones.

Other than that I've no problem with people having very long talk pages if that's what they like- as I said, this was only a problem because some legitimate notices weren't showing up correctly.

I've also set up auto-archiving for comments older than 720 days(!), or- more importantly- for when your talk page gets too big. You're welcome to disable or remove that (via the template {{User:MiszaBot/config [etc]}}) or indeed to revert any of the changes I've made if you're not happy with them.

All the best,

Thank you for your suggestion and archive setup! --Clusternote (talk)

What does this reference refer to?[edit]

Hi again,

I came across your edit to Category:Korg M1, and I wondered what the reference in question was actually for? It's not obvious to me.

Thanks, Ubcule (talk) 23:10, 15 January 2017 (UTC)

I added that reference to show who was a chief engineer of Korg M1, the world best selling synthesizer introduced in 1988. Jun'ichi Ikeuchi, a Japanese electronics engineer, was also described as a circuit designer of Firstman SQ-01, an ancestor of acid bass machine introduced in 1980 or 1981, on the private BBS hosted by the founder of Hillwood / Firstman, Kazuo Morioka. --Clusternote (talk)
That's interesting, but I really don't think it belongs there.
There are some cases, I guess, where references would be useful or necessary on Commons- to back up or explain things- but this one doesn't seem to be backing up anything else on the page itself.
Your content can still be found at this archived version of the page if you want to retrieve it, but I think such info belongs more on Wikipedia if you can figure out a way to make it useful there.
All the best, Ubcule (talk) 22:06, 27 January 2017 (UTC)
Wikipedia is not the place for an explanation about a specific categorization on Wikimedia Commons. If an explanation (including citation) was removed from Wikimedia Commons, the verification of a specific categorization may become a hard task. Thus I've added a note, and moved a citation into the new section, "further reading". --Clusternote (talk)
Okay, I see where you're coming from. As I said, there are cases where it can be justified to back things on Commons up with references, and this is one of them. However, I don't think "Further reading" is appropriate here; I've cut down and altered some of this into more reference-like format. I'm not 100% sure this is how it's meant to be done; it's still a bit intrusive. Ubcule (talk) 21:03, 31 January 2017 (UTC)
