Rankkronen[edit]

Hallo!

--David Liuzzo (talk) 05:45, 6 March 2010 (UTC)

French Royal crown[edit]

hello david.. i am seeking your permission to use your picture of the french heraldic kings crown i found on wiki.. also, is your picture a copy of an actual crown or did you design it??? thank you very much, i hope to hear from you soon... joeanne mace..

Well, it's a heraldic crown as the french kings have used it in later centuries after royal crowns on the continent began to use 8 half-arches. There is no definitive standard. You can see the design(s) in french heraldry books. It resembles a little bet the crown of Louis XV. Greek crown[edit]

I agree, I thought about this for quite a while, but since the article doesn't mention for or against the Danish version, and since there was only one Royal crown ever made for Greece: the Wittelsbach one. Therefore it would be strange for there to be this imaginary crown, if there is a specific source that mentions that Ströhl's fictitious crown was valid then I would certainly change it, but since the Danish explanation makes the most sense, I'm gonna stick with it for the moment, But my mind is always open to new evidence, if anyone can find it. Sodacan (talk) 02:25, 14 March 2010 (UTC)
Thanks again, I will do that tomorrow, my eyes and hands hurt too much now. Sodacan (talk) 03:12, 14 March 2010 (UTC)
Actually read the this document (using google translate), and it does state quite clearly that the Danish crown is used in all the Coat of arms and Royal standards. Even though the crown depicted in the document does not resemble the Danish crown very much (confusingly), but the intention is clear, that they were "trying" to represent the Danish crown, so for me at least the issue is settled. Since Greece did not have a crown in 1899, Strohl might have had the same problem as we did (insufficient information) and just created one out of no where, alas we will never know. Anyways thanks, and your request is still on, you see, I started the Greek arms months ago (last year in fact) and just had some strength to finish them now. SVG crowns[edit]

Hi. Please stop overwriting other people's work, especially when they are promoted images. Upload your version as separate images. --Eusebius (talk) 05:43, 1 April 2010 (UTC)

Those images aren't hardly in any use at all wikimedia projects. Commons is no space for data storage, you should know that as an administrator. The fact that they are "promoted images" can't be used as an argument since the impressing low number of two people supported it ages ago, when no other images neither PNG nor SVG were available. --David Liuzzo (talk) 06:53, 1 April 2010 (UTC)
You are uploading different versions of the same crowns. You are welcome to upload them, not to overwrite existing files with your own version to take their place. They ARE used, even if the contrary wouldn't give you the right to overwrite them. This is just plain vandalism and people get blocked for that. This is a warning. --Eusebius (talk) 07:16, 1 April 2010 (UTC)
I can use the Use-Tool by myself, they are not used. A warning? You are misusing your administrator position because you stick to your images out of personal reasons. If you keep reverting the changes I'll request a deletion of your outdated files and upload the new SVG versions seperatly. --David Liuzzo (talk) 07:22, 1 April 2010 (UTC)
I'm misusing nothing. Please feel free to report my actions and/or nominate the files for deletion, but good luck about that. Again, you're very welcome to upload your own versions as separate files, to use them on the WMF projects, and to nominate a VI set to replace the existing one if you wish (but some of your illustrations have factual errors). --Eusebius (talk) 07:26, 1 April 2010 (UTC)
If they had factual errors, feel free to tell them for public benefit and to give others the possibility to change them. --David Liuzzo (talk) 07:29, 1 April 2010 (UTC)
Hum, I was thinking about the colour of the hats for some of the crowns, but I think we have discussed this in the past and it appeared that different sources showed different colours. But I (and the heraldic project on fr.WP) couldn't find any reference for a Dauphin crown with a hat (red or blue). --Eusebius (talk) 07:35, 1 April 2010 (UTC)
Well, take a look at File:Crown of Dauphin Louis Antoine (1824).png showing the actual crown Louis Antoine worn at the coronation of Charles X in 1824. (Must have been destroyed at a later date). Nevertheless, that one clearly shows a hat.--David Liuzzo (talk) 07:38, 1 April 2010 (UTC)
Yes, interesting, thanks. For creating the pictures of the set we chose to limit ourselves to the Ancien Régime (this one is from the Restauration, a bit later), but a Dauphin crown with hat is certainly historically ok then. --Eusebius (talk) 07:51, 1 April 2010 (UTC)
I have uploaded my own version (I was actually going to do them today... weird), surely there are room for many sets. Regards. Sodacan (talk) 08:41, 1 April 2010 (UTC)

Crown of Louis Philippe[edit]

Hi David, I have created a new crown based on the source you gave me, hope it is alright. Thank you, you've been very helpful. Sodacan (talk) 10:31, 4 April 2010 (UTC)

I agree, there is very little source to rely on (maybe it's because I have only been looking at English sources), but if you find anything more please let me know, I appreciate all the help. Sodacan (talk) 17:34, 4 April 2010 (UTC)
Thanks for the crown, I am currently in the process of updating my Napoleonic COAs, this is a great help, they should be finished soon. If you have a really detailed photo of the chain of the legion of honour that would be really good. Sodacan (talk) 01:02, 11 April 2010 (UTC)

Ex omnibus floribus elegi mihi Lilium[edit]

Thanks for the info!

I will add it as soon as I can, and when I find out which font I used for the old motto! I think I might have to upload this as a new file, what do you think? surely the old file is still valid as a pre-Bourbon (Pre-Navarre) and post Restoration. Sodacan (talk) 15:21, 10 August 2010 (UTC)

(www.velacon.de) Danke Axel Becker

Hello, David Liuzzo!

Tip: Add categories to your images

Thanks a lot for contributing to the Wikimedia Commons! Here's a tip to make your uploads more useful: Why not add some categories to describe them? This will help more people to find and use them.

Here's how:

1) If you're using the UploadWizard, you can add categories to each file when you describe it. Just click "more options" for the file and add the categories which make sense:

Uploadwizard-categories.png

2) You can also pick the file from your list of uploads, edit the file description page, and manually add the category code at the end of the page.

[[Category:Category name]]

For example, if you are uploading a diagram showing the orbits of comets, you add the following code:

[[Category:Astronomical diagrams]]
[[Category:Comets]]

This will make the diagram show up in the categories "Astronomical diagrams" and "Comets".

When picking categories, try to choose a specific category ("Astronomical diagrams") over a generic one ("Illustrations"). Pro-tip: The CommonSense tool can help you find the best category for your image.

Thanks again for your uploads! More information about categorization can be found in Commons:Categories, and don't hesitate to leave a note on the help desk.

Silesian symbols[edit]

Hi. I have a few questions.

  1. Why have you modified an upper eagle's strip in File:Wappen Herzogtum Schlesien.jpg without clovers, and changed a crown (or mitre)?
  2. Do you know when Wappenrolle Österreich-Ungarns nach Hugo Ströhl was published? I'm looking a creation date of File:Wappen Herzogtum Schlesien.png.
  3. Do you have or know any law act which established the Flag of the Provinz Schlesien (File:Flagge Preußen - Provinz Schlesien.svg). Or maybe source that stay with date of set up this flag?
    1. And the same question for File:Flagge Preußen - Provinz Oberschlesien.svg

Thank You for the answers. Cheers JDavid (talk) 12:42, 18 January 2011 (UTC)

Well and here the answers: 1. At first, I didn't modify anything, it's the actual depiction. The clovers are the sign by what Austrian (has clovers) and Prussian Silesia (has none, just as whole Silesia lacks them too) are differing. The crown depicted is a princely hat, typicial in the use of Heraldry of the Holy Roman Empire and to Austrian "Kronländer". 2. Actually there are different prints of the publication. But since my source would be google, I think you might search it up as that way as well. Perhaps you should consider the Reprint of the 1900 version, which just came uit 2010: [1] 3. No I don't know.

Liebe Grüße --David Liuzzo (talk) 20:57, 22 January 2011 (UTC)

File:Wappen Deutscher Bund.svg[edit]

hi there,

do you think you can help improve on this image? File:Wappen Deutscher Bund.svg and this one File:Wappen Deutscher Bund.PNG? Thank you. Gryffindor (talk) 02:25, 23 January 2011 (UTC)

I don't see a need for improving there. The latter one seems to have a wrong title, it's not the arms of the German Conferderation, but a designated design for the arms of the German Empire, adopted by the Paulskirchenparliament in Frankfurt 1848. Close (15th-17th centuries) and open (18th-19th Centuries) helmets in Spanish Royal Heraldry[edit]

Hello, Yes, I check it Philip II 1 Philip II 2 SEE it at page 1461 of the Gallery Austrian Dinasty monarchs used the closed helmet (a german influence) Philip "the Handsome" ref image 44526. Open helmet appears with Philip V as a copy of the French Royal Arms [2] French new dinasty, french influences. So I´ll put the open helmet in the Bourbonic Ornamented variants.

Also you can see the fact even Alfonso XII and Alfonso XIII used a variant with a closed helmet at the Armorial of the Golden Fleece SEE IT AT THE END. At the middle and late 19th century at Spain there was a interest in medieval and early modern styles (as Tudor Style in Victorian England was an interest in Catholic Monarchs and Early Austrian Monarch of Spain).

I'm going to put the references that I used in the files infoboxes but there are a lot of them!

Wappen Bistum Breslau[edit]

Hello. I had to change the File:Wappen Bistum Breslau.png, because of the pattern of the eagle. But You had given a blue shield of CoA, and I wonder it is correct. Every source like e.x. File:Presslaw CoA.jpg (and category:Coats of arms of Wrocław diocese has a red part shield. I have also checked on the present coat of arms on the curia of Wrocław diocese and present pattern is given here. You didn't give any source of the file so I think the file is incorrect, and also we should have a patterns from the original source. JDavid (talk) 11:05, 7 July 2011 (UTC)

As you can see at first I used a red version until I looked it up. For the reliable source, look into "Die Wappen der Hochstifte, Bistümer und Diözesanbischöfe im Heiligen Römischen Reich 1648 -1803" 2007, Hrsg. v. Erwin Gatz u. a. Schnell & Steiner

ISBN-13: 9783795416379. Just another remark: Siebmacher isn't a reliable source at all in this case, many arms of ecclesiastical territories here are simply wrong. --David Liuzzo (talk) 20:14, 8 July 2011 (UTC)

Wappen des Fürstbistums Basel[edit]

Wappen des Fürstbistum Basels
korrekte Farbe

--21:02, 6 April 2013 (UTC)

WTF[edit]

You put a request on the graphics lab/map workshop-page. I take up the challenge in creating maps of the individual countries of the EU. I spent a lot of time in creating and uploading them....only to find out at the last minute that you already created them yourself (see: Category:Locator maps of countries of European Union (orange relief scheme)). Now there exist exact replicas of the same maps in the category. What is this? You don't put out a request for help and then doing it yourself. Do you know how much time I spent on this? There is one difference though between our maps: I made the maps W3C-valid.

I would like an explanation. Wereldburger758 (talk) 08:37, 23 December 2013 (UTC)
simple: There was no response, fot the time I waited for it, so I did it part of them myself. There are a lot more to make, that I didn't convert yet. What the hell is W3C? --David Liuzzo (talk) 14:20, 24 December 2013 (UTC)
You have created the maps with Adobe Illustrator and saved them as an SVG-file. Problem with files made with Adobe Illustrator is that they come with a lot of extra, unnecessary code. The code of SVG-files can be checked with the validator of the W3C-organisation. SVG-files are a standard. Like HTML and CSS are. Checking the file with this validator just means that all, unnecessary code is filtered out and that the files will be good visible in all browsers. So, it is a kind of quality check.Wereldburger758 (talk) 20:51, 5 January 2014 (UTC)
Well could you replace my versions with yours then? Sorry for all the inconviniences, I didn't plan those for you. :) --David Liuzzo (talk) 22:01, 5 January 2014 (UTC)

Bspw.
--David Liuzzo (talk) 15:32, 5 January 2014 (UTC)

Use of your lion[edit]

Greetings, I have a somewhat bizarre request. My farther, a historian and curator of a local history museum in a Czech town of Mladá Boleslav (Jungbunzlau), got a request from a nearby tiny village of Sezemice to create a coat of arms for them. (My farther doesn't speak much English or German, so I'm writing in his stead.) He would like to use one of your heraldic lions. Of course you would be attributed in some way, probably on the village's website (http://www.sezemice-mb.cz; in Czech only). Does he have your permission to do so? True immortality and eternal glory await you...

Of Course, I'd be interested to see the result! Greetings and Merry Christmas, -David Liuzzo (talk) 20:33, 21 December 2014 (UTC)

Prussian Eagle[edit]

Hi, Mr. Liuzzo. I was wondering if I could have your permission to use your Prussian eagle (this one) on an edit I've made to a certain Nazi propaganda poster? I've already made the edit, and I could show you if you'd like.

I don't really plan on using it otherwise, and I'm just sharing the finished poster on an imageboard. 65.111.95.138 22:54, 2 February 2015 (UTC)

Euhm, No. I don't produce any kind of symbol of the nationalsocialist era and I don't want to have any affiliation with it. That Prussian Eagle of monarchic times has no reason to show up on a Nazi propaganda poster. --David Liuzzo (talk) 13:40, 11 February 2015 (UTC)
The Nazi flag (along with all associated symbols) is replaced with an Imperial one for an alternate history situation in which the German Empire won the first world war. National socialism doesn't even exist within the continuity. 65.111.95.138 22:47, 13 February 2015 (UTC)
